Qatar national day celebrations start with the Parade in which thousands of people gather with national flags and perform the national anthem to show respect towards their country. This parade ceremony continues for one hour. 18th December is the national holiday of Qatar. If the national day of Qatar (18th December) falls on a Friday or Saturday then the public holiday is extended till the coming Sunday. On the happy occasion of Qatar independence day schools, colleges and offices remain closed. People gather in their relative’s homes and arrange special dinners on the happy occasion of Qatar National Day 2022. Also, balloons and parachutes with Qatar national flags are flown in the sky.
There are so many other activities including debate, cultural shows, musical shows, opera, sports competitions, and seminars are held on this occasion. Different organizations arrange games and swimming competitions. Qatari people love to decorate their houses with lights, along with the national flower called “Limonium” and hoisting national flags. The big national flags hoist on important buildings to show solidarity towards the country. People enjoy the national day with their children by taking them to the parks where the food stalls and other activities are present. Many Qataris dress up as their national flag colors. Children’s faces are painted with national flag colors. People also lighted their cars and bicycles with colorful lights and flags. Fireworks at night is also an important part of Qatar National Day 2022. In the evening the concerts and dance performances are arranged for the people. Many shopping malls offer sales on various items including clothing, beauty products, and others.
Every year on the occasion of Qatar National Day many schools, colleges and universities arrange different programs and seminars in which students perform National Anthems, tableau, and other activities. In the morning the flag hoisting ceremony is arranged in various schools, colleges, and universities. The national flower which is called “Limonium” is displayed at different places.
School children use wishes cards to wish each other on the happy occasion of Qatar national day and these cards are also displayed in the principal’s office.
